Trump to order probe into Epstein’s alleged ties to Clinton and banks

US President Donald Trump says he will order an investigation into pedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein’s alleged ties to major banks and some prominent Democrats, including former President Bill Clinton.
Trump said on social media that he would ask Attorney General Pam Bondi and the FBI to examine Epstein’s “affair and relationship” with Clinton and others and “determine what happened to them and to him.”
Interest in Epstein’s dealings was revived this week after US lawmakers released more than 20,000 pages of documents from Epstein’s estate, some of which mentioned Trump.
Clinton vehemently denied any knowledge of Epstein’s crimes.
In addition to Clinton, Trump said he asked the Department of Justice (DoJ) to investigate JP Morgan and Chase banks, former Treasury Secretary Larry Summers, and LinkedIn founder Reid Hoffman, who is also a prominent Democratic donor.
“Epstein was a Democrat, and he is a Democrat problem, not a Republican problem!” he wrote on social media.
“They all know it, don’t waste your time with Trump. I have a Country to rule!”
A spokesperson for JPMorgan Chase said the firm regretted “any association” with Epstein and added that the firm “did not assist him in committing these heinous acts.”
Trump’s request comes ahead of a vote in the House of Representatives next week on whether the justice department can release all files related to the investigation into Epstein.
The move was triggered by Democrat Adelita Grijalva’s swearing-in in parliament on Wednesday, after she signed the discharge petition immediately after calling for the release of the files.
His signature was the 218th; It was the final signature needed to trigger a floor vote.
