Teenage boy and woman charged over violent St Kilda Pier tourist attack on tourist

Two more people have been arrested after a 34-year-old Norwegian tourist was allegedly attacked on St Kilda Pier the week before Christmas.

A 19-year-old woman from Hillside and a 17-year-old boy from Coolaroo were arrested at Fraser Rise and St Kilda.

The Norwegian man was allegedly attacked by a group of eight men in broad daylight at a popular tourist spot on December 18.

The group allegedly hit the man and stole his phone before throwing it into the water.

The victim was taken to hospital with a broken arm and has since cut short his holiday and returned home.

The woman was charged with affray, assault on premises, assault by kicking and common law assault.

The boy was charged with fighting, recklessly causing injury and assault in company.

A criminal complaint was filed against the third person, a 19-year-old man who applied to the police station on Christmas Eve.

He was charged with assault, malicious wounding, robbery, affray and theft.

All three defendants were released on bail and will appear in the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on July 8.

Police believe at this stage at least one criminal remains at large.
