Mercury Over 43ºC for First Time in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Mercury crossed the 43° Celsius mark for the first time in the city this year; Even large parts of Telangana continued to reel under severe heatwave conditions; At least 20 locations recorded temperatures above 45°C and several pegs crossed 46°C.

In Hyderabad, the highest temperature was recorded in Karwan at 43.4°C, while Amberpet reached 43°C. The maximum temperature throughout the day remained above 42°C in most parts of the city.

According to Telangana Development Planning Society (TGDPS) data, Mutharam in Peddapalli and Mungala in Suryapet recorded the highest temperature in the state at 46.5°C. Bhadradri Kothagudem, Hanamkonda, Jagtial, Jayashankar Bhupalpalli, Karimnagar, Khammam, Komuram Bheem Asifabad and Mancherial were among the districts where temperatures were recorded above 46°C.

Meteorological officials warned that severe heat conditions may continue in many regions for the next two days.

Forecast data showed that Khammam may have a maximum temperature of 47°C on Thursday, while Bhadradri Kothagudem, Suryapet, Jayashankar, Kumuram Bheem and Mancherial are also likely to remain under severe heatwave conditions.

Authorities advised people to avoid exposure to direct sunlight during the afternoon hours, drink enough water, wear loose-fitting cotton clothing and avoid strenuous outdoor activities. The elderly, children, delivery drivers and those with health problems were asked to take extra precautions.
