Backlash over this year’s controversial Met Gala has escalated in New York City, just hours before the red carpet opens for fashion’s biggest night.
Anger grows with the attendance of Amazon billionaire Jeff Bezos, 62, and his wife, Lauren Sanchez, 56, who financed much of the event.
Hundreds of containers of yellow liquid are believed to be stored alongside priceless artifacts at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Baskets filled with plastic water bottles were placed outside the museum, allowing passers-by to urinate into these bottles.
A sign on the stash read: ‘Met Gala VIP restroom. It was founded in honor of Met Gala chairman Jeff Bezos. ‘Go ahead, it’s good enough for his staff.’
The stunt was intended to draw attention to Amazon’s treatment of its employees.
