Met Gala 2026 WORST dressed: Kylie Jenner and Katy Perry shock with bizarre outfits on the red carpet

It’s the first Monday in May, and that means it’s fashion’s biggest night of the year, with a star-studded guest list including Sam Smith, Sabrina Carpenter, Misty Copeland and Lena Dunham.
Of course, there will be some seriously memorable fashion fails tonight as A-list stars hit the red carpet during the premiere.
This year’s dress code is ‘fashion is art’, which will provide a more specific basis for guests as opposed to the gala’s overall theme of ‘costume art’.
The New York City museum will pair historical and contemporary clothing from the Costume Institute for the exhibition, which will be broadly divided into three categories: the classical body and the naked body, aging bodies and pregnant bodies, and the anatomical body.
This year’s gala represents the first in Anna Wintour’s new role as Vogue’s global creative director and Conde Nast’s chief content officer, with Chloe Malle taking over as US Vogue’s editorial content officer.
Tonight’s guests include A-list stars from the Kardashians to Rihanna and even Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton, as well as sponsors Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez.
Ahead of tonight’s big event, stars attended the monumental fashion event in a series of sartorial nightmares and opulent outfits.
The Daily Mail has rounded up the biggest fashion mistakes from the 2026 Met Gala.
Not the best Met look! Kylie Jenner stepped out in an intricate Schiaparelli gown with a nude, pleated corset top and a semi-tied, cream-colored, bejeweled satin skirt. The back of the dress featured a messy look and she paired it with a striking hairstyle that left just a strand around her eyes, chunky pearl earrings and a matching necklace.
Is the artificial intelligence bride coming? Katy Perry covered her face completely with a robot-like silver mask and paired it with a strapless white silky dress with an exaggerated square neckline. She completed her look with a pair of white satin opera gloves.
It looks like a quill! Artist Sam Smith wore a dazzling black outfit that featured a dramatic, oversized cape lined with fur on top and a mermaid-style, wrap-around skirt. They paired the look with a large matching headpiece that featured two extremely long black feathers.
Red hot wrong! Lena Dunham arrived in a custom Valentino gown with red sequins and feathers, inspired by Artemisia Gentileschi’s painting Judith Slaying Holofernes, according to Vogue. She paired the look with the brand’s signature bright red heels and wore minimal jewellery.
Poor color choice! Vogue’s new editorial content officer, Chloe Malle, wore a Creamy orange chiffon dress designed specifically for her by New York designer Colleen Allen, which missed the mark when it came to theme. She paired her dress with a bubble necklace from Fred Leighton jewelry and wore her hair in Old Hollywood-style curls.
Tassels gone wrong! Emma Chamberlain wore a very dramatic, over-the-top Mugler gown that resembled paint and brushstrokes on her body and ruffled skirt. There were long tassels on the sleeves and shredded details that continued all the way to the tail of her dress. She completed her look with a super dark smokey eye and a dark nude lip.
We play it safe! Met Gala co-chair Venus Williams wore a pleated black Swarovski crystal dress with a dramatic silver necklace on top. She wore her hair in a high bun adorned with crystals and some earrings to match the dress.
It looks like he traveled back in time! Ben Platt wore a suit that resembled a child’s outfit while wearing a blue-green ombre suit adorned with clouds, trees and a woman holding an umbrella. She paired the look with chunky, white satin loafers, as her trousers seemed a little too short.
There’s so much going on! ABC correspondent Deborah Roberts, who is married to Al Roker, arrived in a busy multicolored polka dot dress with a dramatic balloon skirt. The dress featured a thick belt at the waist and a corset-style top, and she accessorised it with a pair of large dangling earrings.
To the future! Janelle Monáe wore a dress with large cutouts at the waist that appeared to be decorated with computer wires and moss. The dress also featured large butterflies, including one she wore in her hair.
Yawn! Model Grace Ann Nader, sister of Sports Illustrated star Brooks Nader, looked like she was going to another Hollywood party instead of the Met Gala on Monday night. She wore a curvy black dress with a corset-style top adorned with mesh cutouts. She wore a sparkly necklace and wore her hair in long, cascading waves
Boring! Singer Charli XCX wore a strapless, pleated black dress by Saint Laurent with intricate floral detailing on the top of the dress. She tied her hair into a high ponytail and wore minimal jewelry.
Heading to the Emmys or the Met Gala? Sutton Foster played it safe wearing a gold lamé dress with a thigh-high slit and one-shoulder detail. She completed her almost casual look with a gold clutch and strappy gold heels, and wore her hair up in a simple side part.
Let’s turn up the excitement! Ballerina Misty Copeland wore a brown two-piece ensemble consisting of a cropped leather bra top and a large, pleated tulle skirt. She kept things super simple by wearing her hair in a bun, wearing matching brown shoes and a diamond tennis necklace.
