Met Office issues 47-hour power cuts warning for 71 UK areas from Monday | Weather | News

The Met Office issued yellow weather warnings for extreme temperatures in 71 areas across the country on Monday, warning that hot weather could lead to power outages. The forecaster warned that sweltering conditions could cause “heat-sensitive systems and equipment” to fail, leading to “power outages and loss of other services to homes and businesses.”
Weather warnings will come into effect at 01:00 on Monday, June 22 and will end at 23:59 on Tuesday, June 23. The Met Office warned that “warm weather developing into Monday and Tuesday is likely to cause widespread impacts on people and infrastructure.”
Weather forecasters have also increased their temperature forecasts; The highest temperature on Tuesday and Wednesday is expected to be 35°C, increasing confidence that the UK’s June temperature record of 35.6°C, set in Southampton in 1976, could be broken.
