Met Office issues new 12-hour snow warning for 10 areas – full list | Weather | News

The forecaster said: “Rain moving northwards across England today is expected to gradually turn to snow at higher elevations throughout the afternoon and evening. “Snow will continue overnight and into Friday morning, but the altitude at which snow settles will rise steadily over most major Trans-Pennine routes in the early hours of Friday.
Snow accumulation is likely mostly above 250 to 300m with up to 5cm possible, although some sleet or snowfall is possible this evening. Most of this melting ends following the warning on Friday morning. “In some places above 500 m, 5-15 cm can be seen.”
