Met Office issues weather warnings for 90 areas with power cuts alert | Weather | News

The Met Office has issued a series of new yellow weather warnings for 90 parts of England, while also warning millions of Britons about the possibility of power cuts. New amber extreme heat warnings will come into force from midnight on Wednesday and will last until 11.59pm on Thursday.
Temperatures are expected to rise as high as 38C on Wednesday and Thursday, according to the national forecaster. Extreme heat will begin to rise from Tuesday, with the mercury forecast to soar to 37°C for southern England and 35°C for south-east Wales. The peak of the heatwave is expected to be on Wednesday and Thursday, when temperatures are expected to rise to 38°C. The Met Office said: “Conditions will be less warm by Friday, with highs of 33C expected in eastern areas.”
“Overall very warm weather in the highlighted region is likely to persist through at least Thursday, although significant variation is likely from place to place and day to day. Temperatures during the day are generally expected to exceed 30 Celsius, with the warmest areas potentially peaking at around 38 Celsius.”
“Overnight temperatures are unlikely to drop much below high Celsius, and some places will not fall below 20 or 21 degrees Celsius. These higher temperatures will be accompanied by high humidity. Cooler conditions may begin to develop in the west after this period, but confidence is low.”
