Met Office names 19 areas facing heavy rain on Sunday | Weather | News
Meteorology has identified 19 places that will experience heavy rainfall this weekend. The national forecaster said the rain will be mainly in the northwest of the country this Sunday (July 26). The rain will blow from northwest to southeast between 12.00 and 10.00 on July 26, and intermittent showers will be seen across the country. Rainfall between 4 mm and 16 mm per hour can be expected in 19 districts where heavy rain is predicted.
In his long-term forecast he said of the period: “Overall it is likely to be a changeable period, with many areas likely to see bright or sunny weather and some rain at times.
“Northwestern areas are more likely to see the focus of precipitation, but southeastern areas should also see showers. Confidence is waning as we get closer to the end of the month, but there are hints that high pressure may return for a while, which could mean a resumption of dry conditions, particularly in the south.”
“Winds will mostly be light or moderate, but occasionally gusty or strong along some coasts, particularly in the north. Temperatures will be near or above normal, warmest in the south, perhaps becoming very hot again in early August.”
19 regions that will see heavy rain this Sunday:
Tonight and Tonight: Fairly cloudy in the north tonight, with light showers feeding the windy coasts and perhaps the odd shower in East Anglia as well. Extended clearing spells are possible with the odd fog patch in otherwise prone spots.
Wednesday: It is possible that the far northern parts will remain partly cloudy and cool on Wednesday and light showers may occur. Other places are dry and sunny, with some warm sunlight.
Outlook from Thursday to Saturday: The rest will be partly cloudy and showery in the north until Friday. It’s very hot in the south. More widespread rain moves north on Saturday.
