Met Office names areas facing snow next week – full list | Weather | News

The Met Office has identified several areas of the UK that will see snowfall before Thursday.
Although March has been mild so far, cold weather will grip the country from next week, resulting in potential snow showers in some places before next Thursday.
The forecaster has released a new forecast map for Wednesday, March 25; this map shows that it will snow in several areas, mainly in Northern Scotland; However, the forecaster stated that according to the latest forecasts, showers may also affect the north, and snow may also be possible in some parts of Northern Ireland.
The Met Office said “much more unstable” conditions would arrive from Wednesday, including snow at higher elevations, coastal winds and below-average temperatures.
According to the Met Office’s snow maps, areas where snow is expected include northern Scotland, central Scotland and Northern Ireland.
In its latest forecast, the Met Office said: “A more active Atlantic pattern is developing early next week, with rain spreading across northern and western areas on Monday and Tuesday, and at times turning to snow over the Scottish Highlands. Stronger winds are expected in the north, with coastal storms also expected at times.”
“By Wednesday, the UK will enter a cooler and more unstable flow to the north-northwest, bringing frequent showers, some heavy and wintry in higher elevations. Snow is likely to reach lower levels in the north later in the day. Temperatures will be close to or slightly below average.”
Snowfall is expected in three regions
Met Office Chief Forecaster Steve Willington said: “While the first part of the period brought warm sunshine for many, it is not unusual to see colder spells and even some snowfall in March. As we move into next week, the shift to a cooler flow from the north-west will bring a drop in temperature and more unstable weather, including some peak snow in the north and gusty winds at times. This pattern is completely typical for this time of year.”
This week Britain has experienced milder conditions, including Wednesday, the hottest day of the year so far; The mercury reached 20.9C at Gogerddan in West Wales.
Temperature fluctuations are typical for this time of year; Mild conditions alternate with colder spells as the hours change, taking place next weekend.
Temperatures will only drop after a mild weekend, by which time the mercury is expected to top 16C. The North West of England is set to experience some of its best weather on Saturday.
