Met Office names where snow will hit UK in February and March | Weather | News

As February approaches, Meteorology announced its decision regarding the possibility of snowfall next week. Cloudy and rain is expected over the next few days, especially across northern and western parts of England. Other parts of the country may be luckier due to “pleasant sunshine”, the weather agency said.

The outlook for Wednesday through Friday is as follows: “Rain in the north and west on Wednesday. Drier and pleasant sunshine in the southeast. Wetter and windier on Thursday for everyone. Cooler, sunny and showers on Friday.” However, things could get worse towards the weekend as weather systems arrive from the Atlantic.

Rain and wind are expected to continue, according to the Met Office’s long-term forecast, making conditions more variable.

There is a possibility of snow in the higher elevations in the north; many other places are experiencing “drier, more settled periods” with temperatures potentially above average.

The forecast for 28 February to 9 March reads: “Variable conditions are expected as Atlantic frontal systems spread across the UK, interspersed with drier, brighter interludes.

“Rain will generally be heaviest in the northwest, with much less reaching sheltered eastern areas.

“Some snowfall is possible in higher places in the north. Drier and more settled periods may last longer in the future, especially in the east.

“Winds will likely be strong at times and there will be a risk of storms. Temperatures will likely be near or slightly above average.”
