Met Police issue urgent appeal after London man found dead in van in Leicester | UK | News

The Metropolitan Police launched an emergency response after the body of a man was found in a van in Leicester. Leicestershire Police officers found the body of a man in a van parked in Garden Street at around 5.30pm on Wednesday, May 27. Efforts are continuing to identify the person and inform his relatives.
The Met said the vehicle was registered to an address in Hounslow, south-west London. On Friday the 39-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of murder in Hounslow. He is being held for questioning by detectives. Following the woman’s arrest and other police investigations, the investigation was handed over to the Metropolitan Police. A crime scene was set up at a house in Sutton Dene, Hounslow. An investigation is ongoing to determine the circumstances that led to the man’s death.
Detective Chief Inspector Alex Gammampila, who is leading the investigation, appealed for anyone with information to come forward, particularly anyone who recognizes the van or believes they captured footage of it traveling to Leicester before the man’s body was found on Wednesday.
He said: “I would like to thank Leicestershire Police for their initial investigation which resulted in a swift arrest.
“As we piece together the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident, we are appealing to the public to come forward with any information, particularly if you recognize the van or think you may have captured it on doorbell or dashcam footage en route to Leicester by Wednesday, May 27.”
