Meta launches Muse Spark AI with image reading and parallel tasks

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!
If you’ve ever wanted your phone to just be able to see what you’re dealing with instead of having you type everything in, Meta heard you. The company has now launched its new AI model, Muse Spark, which powers the Meta AI assistant and will be available in the Meta AI app, WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, Messenger and even AI glasses in the coming weeks.
This is the first major release from Meta Superintelligence Labs, which Mark Zuckerberg founded nine months ago with one goal: to put “personal superintelligence” into the hands of everyone.
That’s a big promise. Now let’s take a look at what’s actually happening here.

REESE WITHERSPOON warns AI is three times more likely to replace women

What is Meta’s Muse Spark AI model?
Muse Spark is Meta’s core AI model; It is the first model in a series of intentional scaling where each release is validated and the final release builds upon before the meta grows further. Over the past nine months, the team has rebuilt its AI stack from scratch, making it one of the fastest development cycles the company has ever run.
The model is described as small and fast by design, yet capable enough to answer complex questions in science, mathematics and health. Think of it as a strong foundation rather than a ceiling. Meta has already confirmed that the next generation is in development.
Muse Spark currently supports the Meta AI assistant across the Meta AI app and meta.ai. If you want to try it today, this is your entry point.
How do Meta AI’s new modes actually work?
Upgraded Meta AI now works in two modes: Instant and Thinking. Handles quick questions instantly. Thinking explores more complex problems that require stronger reasoning. You switch between them according to your needs.
IT WAS STATED THAT META CREATED AN ARTIFICIAL VERSION OF MARK ZUCKERBERG TO INTERACT WITH COMPANY EMPLOYEES.
What’s really new is how it handles both at the same time. Meta AI can now launch multiple subagents in parallel. Planning a family trip to Florida? One representative is drafting the itinerary, another likens Orlando to the Keys, and a third simultaneously highlights kid-friendly activities. You’ll get a better, more complete answer in less time.
This is real change. Most AI assistants perform tasks one by one. Running these in parallel is closer to how a talented human research team actually works, and honestly, it’s about time.
As Mark Zuckerberg wrote in a recent Facebook post, “We make products that not only answer your questions, but act as agents that do things for you.”
Meta AI can now see what you see
This is one of the most practical changes to Muse Spark. Meta built strong multimodal perception into the model; This means Meta AI can look at images instead of just reading the text you type.
Take a photo of the snack rack at the airport and ask which options have the most protein. Scan a product and ask how it compares to alternatives. AI works with what you see; This eliminates the “let me explain what’s in front of me” step that makes most AI assistants feel clunky in real life.
This feature becomes particularly interesting when Muse Spark launches on Meta’s AI glasses. The assistant will be able to see and understand your environment in real time, without having to pick up your phone.

How does Meta AI answer different health questions?
Health is one of the top reasons people are turning to AI, and Meta has addressed this head-on. Meta AI can now address health-related questions with more detailed answers, including questions with images and graphs.
The company worked with a team of doctors to develop the model’s ability to answer common health questions and concerns. This does not replace your doctor. But this means you can show Meta AI a table from your lab results or a diagram from a health website and get a meaningful, informed response instead of a wall of disclaimers.
OPINION: YOU BERNIE SANDERS: ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IS COMING TO THE WORKING CLASS. WE HAVE TO FIGHT
This is actually useful. Most people were there, squinting at a zero-content chart in their doctor’s portal. Having something to look at changes the experience.
Meta AI shopping mode changes the way you find products
Starting today in the US, the Meta AI app will have a dedicated Shopping mode. It helps users figure out what to wear, decorate a room, or find a gift for a specific someone.
Rather than leveraging a public product database, the shopping mode surfaces ideas from creators and communities already active on Facebook, Instagram, and Threads. The result feels less like browsing a store website and more like getting advice from someone with a good eye.
It’s a meaningfully different approach, and one that Meta is uniquely positioned for given the content ecosystem it already has.
What does this mean for you?
If you use Facebook, Instagram or WhatsApp regularly, Meta AI powered by Muse Spark is already coming your way. You won’t need to download or search for anything new. It will appear within the apps you already use. So what actually changes from day to day?
First, you spend less time explaining things. If you’ve ever tried to identify a label, a chart, or something confusing in front of you, this will feel like a big upgrade. Just take a photo, ask your question and move on. No long explanations. There is no back and forth.
Then planning becomes easier. Trips, events, and even simple decisions often mean switching between tabs and comparing options. Meta AI now manages multiple parts of this process simultaneously. You’ll get to a clearer answer faster, without making five separate searches.
Shopping is also starting to feel different. The new shopping mode is currently only available in the US, but it draws ideas from real posts, creators, and communities across Meta’s apps. This gives you suggestions that are more like suggestions from people, not just search results.
And then there’s what comes next. If Meta’s artificial intelligence glasses While I’ve felt it’s been easy to ignore so far, this may change. When AI can see what you see in real time, without having to pull out your phone, it starts to feel like an integral part of your day rather than a feature. This is where it starts to stand out.

Kurt’s important takeaway
Meta is moving quickly, and Muse Spark is the first real sign that Meta Superintelligence Labs is developing something that could be here to stay. What stands out is how practical this feels. The ability to understand images, multitask, and answer health-related questions aren’t features designed just to dazzle in a demo. They are designed for the complex, visual and fast-moving reality of daily life. This is not the final version. Meta’s next generation of work already exists. API access is coming to select partners, and open source models are also part of the plan. Consider this as a starting point. And depending on how quickly the Meta moves, it may not stay “early” for long.
