Mexico captain Edson Alvarez’s bicycle kick to the goal line in the 16th minute of the match has to be the best defensive display of the World Cup so far. And Alvarez is usually not even a centre-back, but instead a midfielder filling in for Cesar Montes, who was substituted in their last game.
It’s none other than the ball that Los Angeles FC’s Son Heung-min lobbed over the goalkeeper. If it wasn’t for Alvarez, he would have gone in. But a few minutes later, Son was still ruled offside.
At the other end of the field, Julian Quinones takes a shot that finds the target and Korea’s goalkeeper Kim Seung-gyu is forced to make an impressive save.
We’re going for a drinks break.
