Miami police crack down on rowdy Scotland World Cup fans and their boozy antics as thousands arrive in Florida before Brazil showdown

Scotland’s Tartan Army fans are already noticing the stark difference between Boston and Miami, and it has nothing to do with the weather.
Nearly 50,000 Scotland fans have flocked to the United States for the 2026 World Cup, the country’s first appearance in 28 years.
The Tartan Army made Boston their base for the opening of their first two group matches against Haiti and Morocco and were widely praised for their good humor during their visit.
Their antics in Massachusetts went viral around the world; from drying and drinking Tennent’s beer in pubs around the city to placing traffic cones on the heads of statues and even spontaneously performing street songs with fans of rival nations.
Boston police officers also joined in the fun, filming themselves goalkeeping and trying to play the bagpipes in the FIFA Fan Zone.
However, the Tartan Army, who moved to Miami before their match against Brazil on Wednesday, were greeted with a different attitude from the local people.
A Scottish fan was confronted by Miami police after placing a cone on the statue.
He quickly removed the cone from the statue’s head after being warned by Miami police.
A video circulating on social media A Scotland fan who tried to place a traffic cone on top of a statue in downtown Miami was met with a very different reaction than the one his compatriots received in Massachusetts last week.
The fan dressed in Scottish garb successfully crowned the figure of Spanish explorer Juan Ponce de Leon with a cone; The moment then ended with a loud beep from a nearby police car. He quickly removed the cone.
The woman who shot the video and was traveling with the man suggested Miami police still had time to salvage relations with the Scots.
He said: ‘We’re some time away from Miami police liking the Scots. I’ll be honest, I felt a little s**t when the siren went off and we put the cone in place.
‘They need to lighten up a bit, but there’s still time for them!’ he added.
The tradition of cones on sculpture is a beloved part of Scottish cultural heritage.
Glaswegians have been placing traffic cones on the Duke of Wellington statue outside the Gallery of Modern Art for decades; It is believed that this tradition started with late night revelers in the 1980s.
Boston takeover fans have made their way to Florida ahead of Scotland’s third and final group match against Brazil on Wednesday; The reception here — at least from local law enforcement — seems pretty chilly.
The hugely popular Tartan Army attacked New England last week and fans loved it
A Scotland fan was seen playing the bagpipes in a hotel pool after arriving in Miami.
But the people of Miami seem to love the Tartan Army’s presence.
Another video that went viral It showed a group of Scotland fans partying at a hotel pool in Miami. They even brought bagpipes with them.
The viral clip showed one Tartan Army member standing poolside and playing a song while the rest jumped and chanted.
And while Scottish fans bring good vibes wherever they go in America, the same cannot be said for English fans.
As Three Lions fans begin arriving in New England ahead of the second World Cup match against Ghana, Boston residents fear the arrival of England fans could dampen the morale boosted by the Tartan Army.
With the good weather in the East End there was some concern that the new visitors (British) might dampen morale.
‘The English are here and fucking the air, are the Scots going to wander around and fight them with us?’ wrote one social media user.
However, those on the ground welcomed the new order; A group of Three Lions fans shared a video with the title ‘English expelled Scots from Boston’.
It remains to be seen whether the Bostonians will learn to live with fans in England or continue pining for their next-door neighbors, but there are reports of common ground between the two camps; Bars in Boston reported having to rent extra refrigerators to keep up with beer consumption.
