Michael Douglas and Rob Reiner often talked to each other about parenting drug-addicted children and the challenges that came with it.

Douglas, 81, reflected on his conversations about his sons — Reiner, son Nick and Michael, and son Cameron — while appearing on a CBS News special. “Rob Reiner: Scenes from a Life.”

“With this terrible tragedy, we realize how much pressure he faced in his personal life with his son. I also had a son with a drug problem. I’m happy to say he overcame that and lived a prosperous life. But we talked a lot about it: what you can do as parents, what you can’t do,” Douglas said.
