Fresh humiliation for Andrew as city removes plaque marking his visit | Royal | News

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has faced fresh humiliation after the plaque celebrating his visit to Inverness was removed. The 66-year-old Inverness Town House reopened in 2018 with a plaque commemorating the historic event.

It was seen that the sign at the front entrance of the building, on the Köprü Street side, was removed. The sacking was thought to have taken place after the disgraced royal was stripped of his titles last year.

Highland Council confirmed it had removed the plaque earlier this week.

Many residents shared their opinions about the removal on social media, The Inverness Courier reported; Some even stated that it was part of history. Claire Mapplebeck said: “It’s part of history. I don’t agree with what happened but it’s history. If it has to be removed, put it in the museum.”

Kim Corbett took the opposite view, saying: “This is definitely something that should disappear from the city forever, never to be seen again.”

Highland Council confirmed it had been put into storage.

The former prince and Earl of Inverness were stripped of their titles amid controversy over their links to late pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.

He was arrested on suspicion of abuse of public office last Thursday, which also happened to be his 66th birthday.

The arrest, from which he was released under investigation 11 hours later, took place at his new home in Norfolk, just days after his release from Royal Lodge in Windsor. Andrew has always denied any wrongdoing or accusations against him.
