Migrant crisis: Boat sinks ‘leaving 116 dead and 1 survivor’ | World | News

Humanitarian aid organization Sea Watch said that more than 100 migrants trying to reach European shores from Libya lost their lives in the Mediterranean. It is thought that only one person on the ship, which was thought to have carried 117 people, survived the accident.
The survivor was rescued by a Tunisian fishing boat and taken to hospital. The terrible incident took place on December 18, when a ship carrying immigrants sent an SOS message shortly after leaving the African country.
The Seabird plane, which normally monitors the area through which migrant ships pass, was unable to locate the boat, leading to immediate fears of a shipwreck.
