Migrant heading to UK ‘to join gang’ reveals why Britain is seen as such a soft touch | UK | News

A migrant who tried to cross the Channel to join a “gang” has revealed why Britain is seen as a soft touch. The man, originally from Iran, claimed he wanted to reach the UK because his criminal record was not revealed and he was not sent back to Denmark, where he said he lived for nearly 30 years.
When M asked if he was going to sell drugs, the immigrant said: “Drugs, fighting, you know, stabbing, shooting.”
The man explained that he wanted to go to England because it was “outside Europe… Schengen, Dublin, nothing”.
He continued: “So they can’t send me back to Denmark.
“But if I want to live in Switzerland with my family, they are Swiss… they will send me [to] Denmark because Schengen, Dublin, you know?
M replied: “So I guess you have a criminal record in Denmark?”
The brazen immigrant replied: “Yes, yes, but they can’t see England.”
The Express investigation, which you can watch in full here, has revealed the alarming speed and ease with which illegal immigrants secured a small boat bound for England from northern France.
Despite Britain giving £662 million to deal with the border crisis, undercover reporter M infiltrated a Kurdish smuggling ring running a vast migrant camp on the outskirts of Dunkirk and negotiated passage by boat in just two hours.
Posing as an immigrant trying to reach the UK, M exposed open crime, illegal markets and shocking police inaction on the doorstep of the English Channel.
A Home Office spokesman said the UK was “committed to investigating and arresting despicable people smugglers”.
