Milano-Cortina Opening Ceremony set to begin in Milan
Tate McRae had to highlight the patriotism he felt for his home country after leading Team USA to become champions in the NBC commercial broadcasting Milano Cortina 2026 in the United States.
“Y’all know I’m in Canada,” McRae, who was born in Calgary, Canada, wrote on her Instagram Story this week, alongside a photo of herself holding a Canadian flag as a child.
This comes after a commercial featuring the 22-year-old singer-songwriter-dancer and her song. Nobody’s DaughterIt aired live this week, with McRae asking an animated owl for directions to Milan so he could cheer on Team USA at the opening ceremony.
Some Canadians, including comedian and actor Jack Inanen, who have spent the past 12 months watching U.S. President Donald Trump threaten to annex their country, objected.
“This is a crazy time to support the United States instead of Canada, which directly threatens you on the international stage. I’m disappointed,” Innanen wrote on his Instagram story.
McRae, who has nine million followers, was not very different from her comment section on Instagram.
But she’s not the only pop star from another country cheering on Team USA. During the Thanksgiving Day Parade in November, an NBC campaign starring Dua Lipa debuted.
