Millie Mackintosh’s split from husband Hugo Taylor ‘was sparked after the star’s admissions about her sexuality and alcohol addiction formed a rift in their marriage’

Millie Mackintosh’s split from husband Hugo Taylor came after the star’s confessions about her sexuality exacerbated marital difficulties, sources said on Tuesday.

The Made In Chelsea couple, who share daughters Sienna, five, and Aurelia, four, have quietly split after a rocky start to the year.

It comes a year after Millie admitted to ‘kissing drunk girls’ at the height of her battle with alcohol.

Millie, 36, who got sober in 2022, is said to have found being fully open ‘a lot to deal with’, with insiders now claiming that realizing her sexuality has led to a widening ‘gap’ in her marriage to Hugo.

A source said: ‘He’s really starting to understand who he is as a person; not as a mother, not as a wife, but actually as herself.

‘It’s the first time he’s been able to be completely open about his sexuality, and of course there’s a lot to deal with.’

They added Sun: ‘Part of him always wonders if he’s missing out on a relationship with a woman and how that could happen.’

In an interview with her friend Caggie Dunlop last year Saturn Returns Podcast Millie spoke He spoke openly about his drinking problems before getting sober in 2022 and has since published a book about his struggles titled Bad Drunk.

The TV personality revealed that he struggled to express his attraction to women in his teenage years and only found the courage to ‘kiss’ them when he was drunk.

He admitted he had ‘intimacy issues’ with women after being bullied at an all-girls school and upset his male partners by brazenly kissing girls while drinking.

Millie said: ‘When I was younger I used to make out with women when I was drinking but it wasn’t something I was sure I could do sober…

‘I liked girls at school and I didn’t have the awareness to say, ‘I like girls too.’ I would just have crushes and act weird towards them. I remember having a sleepover and wondering, “I wonder if they’ll kiss me?” I remember saying.’

Adding that many of her struggles were resolved in therapy, Millie told Caggie: ‘A lot of my relationships with women have been explored, I’ve been bullied, so I definitely have intimacy issues with women, but there’s also an attraction.’

She continued: ‘Obviously I’m married to a man so it’s not something that affects our relationship anymore, but looking back I realize it was one of the reasons why I drank destructively, because there was a part of me that I didn’t understand and I didn’t know how to express it and I was afraid to express it.

‘Whenever I drank, I would continue to do so even if I was in a relationship.’

Sharing the moment she opened up about her sexuality to husband Hugo Taylor, she revealed that her husband was incredibly supportive.

Millie and Hugo Taylor have split after seven years of marriage, the Daily Mail revealed on Monday.

Sources close to the couple say they are committed to co-parenting their young children, who remain their priorities, and maintaining a loving family life.

Millie and Hugo, who met as teenagers and first met on E4’s Made In Chelsea programme, have been married since June 2018.

A source said: ‘Millie and Hugo are currently going through a breakup and have sadly decided to split.

‘They have known each other for many years and in recent weeks have had serious conversations about their future and eventually decided it would be better for them both to part ways.

‘Their main priority is their children and family life and separation is not something they ever expected to do.

‘They are currently considering what living apart might look like and how they plan to go about co-parenting their young children.

‘It’s been an incredibly difficult start to the year and they hope to continue to manage this privately.’

Millie first met Hugo as a teenager and they started dating when Hugo was 21 and found fame together on the E4 reality series.

The heiress married 42-year-old rapper Professor Green in 2013, but the couple divorced in 2016, the same year she rekindled her relationship with Hugo.

The couple married two years later and welcomed their first daughter, Sienna, in 2020 and Aurelia in 2021.

In recent years Millie has been open about her past struggles with alcohol to fans, which led to her not drinking and writing the book Bad Drunk, as well as her journey overcoming severe anxiety.

Millie spoke candidly about how she started binge drinking at a young age while at boarding school, using alcohol to cope with being away from home, bullying and her own insecurities.
