The double killer took the four children to McDonald’s a few hours after killing their parents.

Derek Martin, 67, of Moulsecoomb Way, Brighton, was found guilty of two counts of murder on Friday, October 24, after killing Chloe Bashford and her husband Josh at their home in Newhaven, East Sussex, in June 2023.

Footage released by Sussex Police shows Martin, who was previously married to Chloe’s mother, picking up the children from school and taking them to Costa Coffee and McDonald’s after killing the couple.

After taking the children to their grandmother’s house in Brighton, he handed himself in to a police station and told officers: “I killed two people.”

Martin was taken into custody and will be sentenced on November 6.
