Minister’s resignation: Congress leaders, progressive organisations celebrate

Members of various progressive organizations and the Congress party celebrated the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan as a victory for the protests against the NEET-UG paper leak.
Congress leaders gathered outside their offices in Shivamogga on Saturday afternoon after learning about Mr Pradhan’s resignation. To celebrate the occasion, they burst crackers, shouted slogans supporting democracy and against dictatorship and distributed sweets.
District Congress Committee (DCC) president R. Prasanna Kumar, former Minister Kimmane Ratnakar, MLC Balkhees Banu and others were present.
Hasan
In Hassan, members of progressive organizations gathered at the Hemavathi Statue Circle to mark the occasion. Representatives of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] and Dalit Sangharsh Samiti (DSS) participated in the celebrations. They said the students’ protests succeeded in putting pressure on the Center to ensure the resignation of the Minister.
CPM leaders Dharmesh, Naveen Kumar, DSS leaders and SFI leaders were present.
