The contestant of the Miss Grand Thailand pageant had a memorable breakdown on stage.

During the preliminary stages of the show, held in Bangkok on March 25, veneers began to fall from 18-year-old contestant Kamolwan Chanago’s mouth as she introduced herself to the judges and those in the house.

While delivering his introductory speech, Chanago’s speech became noticeably less intelligible due to his dentures falling out and affecting his pronunciation.

Chanago did not let this setback alarm him; She turned her back to the viewer to adjust her veneers, then quickly turned back and gave the camera her best model face.

She then walked the runway and posed in a sparkling nude sheer dress and fluffy pink shawl as the crowd applauded her.

A contestant’s appearance on stage is a key element in winning the judges’ support, and while the latest Miss America winner, Cassie Donegan, managed to win over the judges, viewers at home flooded social media with harsh criticism, arguing that her makeup looked heavy and harsh.

“The truth is, when something big like this happens, there’s going to be a lot of ideas coming out,” Donegan told Fox News Digital in September 2025 regarding the criticism.

“Everyone has the right to their own opinion, especially in a public forum like the internet.” he continued. “Yes, there is negativity out there, and that’s their reality. They’re allowed to have that view, and I completely respect that. But I’m surrounded by so much love, so much support, and so many people who keep me going… I don’t allow it.” [their negativity] to obscure the truly incredible thing that was going on.”

Donegan added that while it’s “hard to turn on my phone and not see what people have to say,” she’s learned that other people’s opinions of her may be valid, “because it’s their truth, but that doesn’t mean it’s my opinion of me.”

Donegan explained that instead of focusing on the negatives, Miss America hopes to be a role model for young girls, wanting them to know that she’s “not that different from you right now, and that you’re capable of doing anything you want to do.”
