Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir are apprehensive about traveling outside the Union territory as several people are considered suspected of acts of violence.
Speaking at an event in South Kashmir’s Kulgam city, Abdullah said, “In the current circumstances, perhaps parents will not want to send their children out. When we are looked at with suspicious eyes from all sides, when people try to smear us because of what someone else did, when they try to involve everyone in what a few people do, then it is obvious that it becomes difficult for us to go out.” he said.
The Prime Minister stated that it was not nice to say this and said, “But what can we do, this is the truth.”
“Very few people are responsible for what happened in Delhi (car explosion near Red Fort), but a perception is being created that we are all responsible for it and we are all a part of it,” he added.
Sharing his thoughts, Mr. Abdullah also said that he thought twice before setting off his J and K registered vehicle in the capital.
“Today, in Delhi, even driving a vehicle with J or K registration is considered a crime. When I don’t have many security personnel with me, I wonder whether I should take my car out or not, because I don’t know if anyone will stop me and ask me where I am from and why I came there.”
The November 10 car blast in Delhi, which killed 15 people, triggered a comprehensive, multi-agency investigation involving the Delhi Police Special Cell, NIA and Crime Branch.
Since the blast, police have checked more than 500 people from Jammu and Kashmir in Faridabad alone under increased security measures.
