Modi-Marcos Jr. talks will significantly deepen bilateral ties: Jaishankar

Foreign Minister S Jaishankar called Ferdinand R. Marcos JR on 4 August 2025 Monday and claimed that his meetings with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 5 would “significantly deepen our bilateral partnership”.

The President of the Republic of Philippines launched a five -day state visit to India on Monday.

During his visit, Mr. Marcos JR will meet with President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Modi will have bilateral meetings and will take part in various signs to support the ties between the two countries.

He also shared a photo of his meetings.

Modi and Mr. Marcos JR are scheduled to have bilateral discussions on August 5th.

The visit of President Marcos JR coincides with the 75th anniversary of India-Philipines diplomatic relations.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on July 31, for both leaders to take part in the future bilateral cooperation and to take part in regional and international mutual interests.

Diplomatic relations between India and the Philippines were founded in November 1949.

In November 2024, in an event to mark the 75th anniversary of India-Filipines diplomatic relations, Jaishankar said that the binary bonds were caused by democratic values, pluralistic ethos and economic partnerships, and that friendship between the two countries was really a “permanent”.

He also said that both nations are deeply dependent on protecting international law, norms and rules. ”
