“On this day last year, I remember the innocent lives lost in the horrific Pahalgam terror attack. These will never be forgotten. My thoughts are with the bereaved families struggling with this loss. As a nation, we stand together with pain and determination. India will never succumb to terrorism of any kind. The heinous designs of terrorists will never succeed,” he wrote.
On the eve of the first anniversary of the attack, the Indian Army also issued a strong message against terrorism by recalling Operation Sindoor.
“When the limits of humanity are crossed, the response is decisive. Justice is served. India stands united,” the Indian Army’s Additional Directorate General of Public Information (ADG PI) said in a post, adding, “Some borders should never be crossed. India does not forget.”
On April 22, 2025, the nation was left in shock following the attack by terrorists in Pahalgam district, known for its beautiful views and tourism. In the attack, Pakistan-backed terrorists entered a village and killed 26 people.
In the cross-border mass attack, the attackers reportedly asked the victims about their religion before carrying out the killings, making it a targeted attack that sparked widespread condemnation across the country.
In response, India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7, 2025, targeting the terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK). The armed forces destroyed nine major terror launchpads linked to groups such as Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed and Hizbul Mujahideen.
The attacks were followed by Pakistani drone strikes and bombardment, leading to a four-day conflict. Indian forces responded with retaliatory strikes by targeting and destroying radar installations near Lahore and Gujranwala.
Following the escalation of tensions, Pakistan’s Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) contacted the Indian DGMO and both sides agreed on a ceasefire on 10 May.
As the country marks the first anniversary of the Pahalgam terror attack, tributes continue to pour in for the victims along with renewed resolve to fight terrorism and ensure national security.
