Moma brand recalls porridge products over possible mice contamination | Product recalls

Many porridge products in the UK have been recalled due to possible mouse contamination in production facilities.

British porridge and oat drink brand Moma has issued a warning for seven versions of its pots and two bags.

Customers are told not to eat the affected products and to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.

In a statement on its website on Sunday, the Food Standards Agency said: “Moma Foods is recalling several porridge pots and sachet products due to possible mouse contamination at its production facility.”

He added: “These products may contain mouse contamination, making them unsafe to eat.”

Point-of-sale announcements will be available in all retail stores that sell the products and on the stores’ websites. There is also a warning on Moma’s website.

The recall applies to the following porridge cups: almond butter and salted caramel; apple, cinnamon and brown sugar; banana and peanut butter protein; blueberry and vanilla; cranberries and raisins; golden syrup; and plain no added sugar.

Moma also asked customers to return bags of almond butter and salted caramel porridge, as well as bags of apples, cinnamon and brown sugar.

The company said none of its other products were affected.

Moma said: “While it is unlikely that any of the above products will be affected, we have taken this precautionary step to ensure the safety of our consumers.

“Consumers who purchased the affected Moma porridge products are asked not to consume these products. Instead, they must return the products to the store where they were purchased and a full refund will be issued.”

Moma Foods was founded in 2006, selling porridge and smoothies in a railway arch in Deptford, south-east London.
