No Petrol, Diesel Or LPG Shortage In Telangana, Say Officials

Hyderabad: The civil supplies department said on Tuesday that there was “absolutely no shortage” of petrol, diesel or domestic LPG across the state and maintained that supply from refineries to local depots was fully functional and sufficient to meet the daily demand in all districts.

Authorities attributed long queues and ‘Out of Stock’ signs at some retail outlets to panic buying triggered by rumors. “Citizens’ unnecessary rush to fill their tanks creates an artificial shortage even though there is enough fuel in the tanks,” officials said.

They stated that recent changes in advance payment models by Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) have led to minor and temporary logistics adjustments for some dealers, explaining that the measure is administrative and has nothing to do with supply availability.

Officials said the Center and the state, in coordination with OMCs and police, are inspecting fuel outlets to ensure fair distribution. “Strict action will be taken against people hoarding fuel, black-marketing or illegally diverting domestic LPG cylinders to commercial use,” officials said.

“The government urges all citizens to remain calm and avoid panic buying. We strongly advise the public to trust official communications only and avoid believing or forwarding unverified rumors on social media.”

Citizens were asked to contact the civil supplies toll-free helpline 1967 with any questions or to report irregularities.
