Moment Amazon delivery driver ‘brazenly steals pet cat from doorstep’ – leaving family ‘devastated’
An Amazon driver was caught on camera recklessly taking away the cat of the house to which he was delivering a package, after ‘shining’ the animal.
Doorbell footage shows a man wearing a high-vis jacket leaning towards the front door of the property in Elland, near Halifax, West Yorkshire, on Sunday afternoon.
When he stands up, a small, dark-colored cat can be seen in the man’s right hand.
The delivery driver then turns back towards his car before disappearing from view.
Since then, the beloved pet named Nora has not returned home, leaving her family ‘devastated’ by her disappearance.
Owner Carl Crowther said he was left in ‘total shock and disbelief’ when he realized Nora was missing and reviewed footage captured by the doorbell camera.
On Sunday, January 18, he was waiting for a package from Zara for his daughter.
Mr Crowther then handed over the video to both Amazon and West Yorkshire Police.

Mr Crowther, who had not seen his cat since the previous day, decided to check the doorbell camera out of ‘curiosity’.
He said: ‘There, I saw this delivery man coming down the road with the package in his hand.
‘He can’t get an answer because there’s no one at the door and he looks for someone safe to put the package in.
‘He then measured the cat.’
‘When he held her he was in complete shock and disbelief.’
The family is especially worried because Nora has a heart murmur and needs medication.
Mr Crowther had gone out on business at 1.30pm, an hour before the delivery arrived.
Initially Mr Crowther was not worried when he did not see his cat all day because he is an outdoor cat and ‘knows the way home.’
But when Nora did not arrive the next morning, Carl and his partner Sarah, 52, became suspicious.
However, when they checked the doorbell footage, they saw the delivery driver pick up Nora and drive away after delivering the package.
They say they haven’t been able to find Nora since.

Mr Crowther added: ‘This is absolutely disgusting. He was there for more than six minutes.
‘He immediately comes to the door, takes the cat, turns around and walks away.
‘I was the first to reach 101, I made a video call at 13.30, they said they would call back within 48 hours.
‘Meanwhile, I spoke to Amazon and told them what happened.
‘I emailed them and their response was disgusting; They asked how much monetary value we would add to the cat.
‘How can you care for someone’s pet?’
Amazon said it was investigating the incident and was in direct contact with Mr Crowther and the police.
It appears that the driver was not employed directly by Amazon but by a subsidiary.
A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said: ‘Police received a report of a cat being stolen from outside a property in Park Avenue, Elland, at around 2.30pm on Monday 19 January. ‘An offense of theft has been registered and investigations are ongoing.’
An Amazon spokesperson confirmed that the company was investigating the incident and contacted police.
