Monsoon 2026 LIVE: Heavy rains lash parts of Himachal Pradesh; wet spell likely till June 17

Delhi residents woke up to cloudy skies and a pleasant windy morning on Friday, June 12, 2026, with the minimum temperature dropping to 22.8 degrees Celsius following overnight rain.
Safdarjung, the city’s primary weather monitoring station, recorded the minimum temperature at 22.8 degrees Celsius, 5.2 notches below normal, marking a sharp drop of 7.2 degrees in 24 hours. Among other stations, the minimum temperature at Palam was recorded at 21.6 degrees Celsius, 6.5 degrees below normal, a drop of 7 degrees in 24 hours.
Lodhi Road recorded 22 degrees Celsius, 6 notches below normal, a drop of 6.8 degrees from the previous day. Ridge recorded a minimum temperature of 20.9 degrees Celsius (5.7 notches below normal), with a drop of 7.5 degrees in 24 hours, while Ayanagar recorded 22.6 degrees Celsius, 4.9 notches below normal, with the sharpest drop of 8 degrees.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the maximum temperature is expected to be around 34 degrees Celsius. The General Directorate of Meteorology predicted light showers, lightning and thunderstorms accompanied by strong winds at 40-50 kilometers per hour at noon, afternoon and evening.
Mahesh Palawat, vice president (Meteorology and Climate Change) of Skymet Weather, said that strong winds and isolated rain activity across the region were due to cyclonic circulation over central Pakistan and adjoining areas. He said pre-monsoon activity is expected to intensify and will bring fairly widespread rainfall in Delhi, Haryana and Punjab. – PTI
