Eleven dead as bus crashes head-on into truck in Brazil

At least 11 people died when a bus and a truck collided head-on in southern Brazil.

Seven more people were injured in the crash on a federal highway in Brazil’s southernmost state of Rio Grande do Sul, the country’s Federal Highway Police said.

The police stated that the injured were sent to hospitals.

Police said that as a result of the accident, part of the truck’s sand load fell into the bus, making it difficult for rescue teams to access the vehicle.

More than 10,000 people will die in traffic accidents in Brazil in 2024, according to the transport ministry.
