Inside the Viral Optimus humanoid robot assembly

Musk reposted the 38-second video, originally created by Alex Utopia, on his X profile, showing Tesla’s humanoid robots doing a variety of daily tasks. Since Musk posted the clip, it has garnered over 58.5 million views.

The montage shows Optimus walking down the street. Then we move on to a construction site where the robot supports the workers. The clip cuts to a scene where Optimus provides emergency assistance during a disaster drill. You then see Optimus arguing with a trainer at a judo gym.

After that, the robot appears on a police patrol in the city. The tone changes again as Optimus deals cards at a blackjack table in a casino. You can then see him walking on the beach, then he is shown cooking with professional chefs in a restaurant kitchen. The final shot shows Optimus at a roulette table in a casino.

Musk had shown Optimus folding laundry and walking in previous demos. He continues to tout humanoid robots as a solution to labor shortages linked to declining fertility rates.

Musk’s bold prediction of a robot-driven economy

Shortly after sharing the video, Musk spoke at the US-Saudi Investment Forum, where he argued that humanoid robots will reshape society. According to Musk, working will turn from a necessity into a hobby. He compared future jobs to recreational gardening rather than buying vegetables at the store.

Musk said he expects the importance of money to decrease as artificial intelligence and robotics advance. He also claimed that humanoid robots will be the greatest product in history. For him, there is a clear path to universal prosperity. He said artificial intelligence and robotics could eliminate poverty and enable people to choose work only if it brings happiness.

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang offered a more cautious perspective. He acknowledged that things will change but noted that the currency will remain important for the foreseeable future.
