More gas. Labor amps it up past twenty fossil fuel approvals

In the last 40 days, at least two oil and gas projects have been approved and increased the Albanian Government’s fossil fuel approval to 21. Zach Szumer With the update.

The Albanian government’s fossil fuel approval rose to at least 21 in installments, and an open sea gas project in Victoria was given green light, and a smaller oil project in Western Australia provided a four -year extension.

In late June, Santos’s Simpson oil field, the WA on the coast of Karratha, extended from 2025 to 2029 by EPBC, an environmental organizer EPBC.

Later, in early July, Nopsema, the Australia’s Open Marine Oil and Gas Regulator, approved Amplide Energy’s east coastal supply project on the southwestern coast of Victoria.

As the name implies, the Eastern coast supply project has been justified when necessary to meet the gas demand in Southeast Australia.

The project says in the project planning documents, “Commonwealth is compatible with the future gas strategy that emphasizes its importance in supporting energy security, reliability and affordable pricing and supporting wider economic transition and supports wider economic transition,” he says.

Critics, like the Australian Institute, do not have any room to approve new gas mines in the global carbon budget ”and the future gas strategy,

It locks Australia in more fossil fuel expansion for decades.

Amplitide, a publicly available company known as Cooper Energy, expects the project to be completed in 2049.

East Coast Supply Emissions

As in all fossil fuel projects made by MWMMost greenhouse gas emissions from the Eastern Coast Supply Project will be caused by the consumption of final products, not the removal or improvement of raw materials.

However, Australia, which sees that the gas of the project is completely for domestic consumption, will not be able to avoid the responsibility of these emissions, as we do for the exported fossil fuels.

North West shelf. Fossil fuel approvals Mother-Levha

According to Amplite’un estimates, the project will produce 41.2 million tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2-E) emissions during the life of the project, and 93% of them have been removed and refined after being removed and refined.

Approximately recently approved gas projects, such as Santos’s Barossa (274 million tons CO2-E) and Woodside’s northwest shelf (4.3 billion tons CO2-E), will significantly more emissions.

Inequality in emissions between the domestic -oriented amplitude project and export -oriented Santos and Woodsyide projects show a central issue: Australia’s primary contribution to global warming is the fossil fuels we export.

If you want to keep your head around it, a good place to start, this last article of Tim Baxter: Australian emissions 101: Export.

MWM Simpson could not find emission data for the Petroleum Field Project-1,3 million tons of CO2-E’s lifelong emissions of the 2001 WA EPA report.

At the end of May, MWM He reported that the Albanian government has approved or extended at least 19 fossil fuel projects and two carbon capture projects since he took office in 2022.
