‘More scandals mean more money’: Brittany Miller’s grovelling ‘apology’ for faking stage 3 cancer was watched by millions… but now insiders tell MOLLY CLAYTON why she REALLY did it – and how it could net her a huge windfall

Brittany Miller seemed to have it all; a successful social media platform, two beautiful children and a doting partner.

Little did TikTok followers know there was a skeleton in the closet. A person who has been threatening to ruin her TikTok career in recent months.

As fans recently discussed on social media, back in 2017 — before she started her career on the app — Brittany lied about having stage 3 stomach cancer. Three years later, he was convicted of fraud by false representation and sentenced to probation for 12 months.

He was forced to pay compensation and costs to the Crown Prosecution Service after it was revealed that he had set up a JustGiving page to raise funds.

Following this ugly incident, Oxfordshire-born Brittany, 29, continued her career by posting videos on social media of herself preparing huge meals for her boyfriend. While she steadfastly refuses to talk about her past, she has quickly amassed a remarkable 3.5 million followers on the app. But this has always been overshadowed by his online presence, with many begging him to address this speculation.

So last week, when Brittany finally tearfully apologized for what she now claims was a ‘mistake’, four million people tuned in eagerly to see how she would explain her actions.

But what these viewers perhaps didn’t know was that they were helping their pockets grow even deeper by watching the six-minute video of Brittany humiliating them.

Brittany's now

Because I can tell you that Brittany, who has one-year-old identical twins Elijah and Emiliano and influencer partner Ashley Kooner, will be pocketing thousands of pounds for the video, which now has more than 12 million views.

Influencers who use the social media platform earn money through the TikTok Creator Fund, which pays them based on the performance of their videos. It calculates earnings based on ‘qualified views’ of content (at least five seconds long).

To be eligible to receive payment, a creator must have at least 10,000 followers, be over 18, and the video must comply with TikTok’s community guidelines.

All this means Brittany is thought to have earned between £5,000 and £15,000 from the ‘apology’ video, in which she claims she “didn’t receive a penny” from her JustGiving page.

“I did this to keep the people in my life close to me,” Brittany said in her video, claiming she was experiencing mental health issues at the time. ‘I don’t rule it out, I understand why I did it and I have learned from my mistakes… This was not a long-running scam.’

Even though he didn’t take any money from the fundraiser, he’s definitely profiting from his lies right now.

A source told me: ‘For these influencers, it seems the more scandals they have, the more money they get. Looks like Brittany’s lies have benefited her more than she could have ever imagined.’

Insiders tell me that for months, Brittany has been carefully deleting any comments referencing the cancer scandal and blocking users who call her out on her lies. They suggest this was a bid for Brittany to control the narrative and profit from the apology video she would inevitably have to film.

It seems their efforts were partially successful.

The Daily Mail can reveal that Brittany’s agency, Viral People, and her family have distanced themselves from her, but the scandal has had little impact on her fan base.

On Instagram, Brittany appears to have lost just 1,000 of her 540,000 followers in the past week.

Before this, brands including Uber, clothing site Boohoo and Chinese retailers Shein and Temu worked with him on lucrative Instagram advertising deals, despite ongoing rumors about his past.

He also continued to post videos on his YouTube channel. The last photo she shared four months ago showed off her new £4,000 Saint Laurent beach bag.

And in October, he documented his family’s move to a new, larger house. “It’s huge,” she told her followers of the property, which comes with a large kitchen island, utility room, large garden, games room, children’s playroom and four bedrooms. ‘This is my dream house.’

Other posts include photos of her at five-star resorts in Türkiye, showing off her £7,000 Chanel bags and on holiday in Greece.

In recent days, shocked social media users have been calling for Brittany to be removed from the platform, despite her apology.

But people close to TikTok tell me Brittany technically didn’t violate any guidelines, so no action can be taken.

Others called for Brittany to donate the money she earned from her apology video to Cancer Research.

One of them commented, “If the apology is real, the right thing to do is to put that money back to charity.” ‘He doesn’t deserve any of this money.’

Meanwhile, another influencer, 26-year-old Max Balegde, spoke about Brittany in a podcast.

He said: ‘What is he canceling these days? People use the term “you’re canceled” all the time; But it can never be canceled if there is still an audience to support it.

‘You have to question the morality of people who still support someone like this.’

It seems like Brittany has a lot of followers who aren’t bothered by her lies. Since posting her apology, Brittany has uploaded three new TikTok videos that have been viewed more than 10 million times combined.

It looks like the scandal is really paying off, at least in Brittany’s case.

The Daily Mail has contacted both Brittany and her former agency but has yet to hear back.
