More than 120 children impacted by rape testing delays
The degree of failure of a Queensland forensic test laboratory was left naked yesterday with the publication of a 400 -page report led by Dr Krssty Wright.
Queensland has elaborated the DNA test methods and delays in judicial science on the victims of great crime, including murder and rape.
A sacrifice-Survivor, who advised the DNA review, said that delays in receiving judicial results, “Extend trauma, disrupt healing and stop justice.”

This was supported by another anonymous victim-Survivor, who said that they expect more than 12 months to get results from a DNA laboratory rape kit collected in April 2024.
“Today, as of June 16, 2025, Queensland Police Service still did not get any estimates about DNA results or when they will be for this case,” they wrote.
“Uncertainty – not knowing when or justice is done – prevents the healing and progression of the survivors. The system itself combines the original damage, and the survival of a kind of secondary trauma in the case of a vulnerability and weakness.”
The report is divided in six categories, including historical cases equivalent to the expected Routine workloads at least four -year -old routine workloads and in six categories, including the major and volume crime taken from May 2023.
In the second category, he showed 13,000 examples of “starting cases ;; 641, 121 rape kits representing the “starting cases olan, which are associated with victims of children or victims with low value; 62 cases representing unidentified human remains; and 16 coronal cases.
The report states that the ongoing risk for children’s victims and victims in allegations of rape or sexual assault is “important concern, because“ it is likely that these victims will regularly contact the perpetrators, as a caregivers or with them ”.
