Morrisons to reopen food counters across 13 UK stores – full list | UK | News

Morrisons has announced it will reopen two of its popular food stalls in stores following customer backlash. The supermarket has announced it will bring back its fish and meat food stalls, which closed 70 of them last year. Morrisons has also closed 52 cafes, 13 florists, four pharmacies and all 18 branches of its Market Kitchen format.

However, the retailer confirmed that selected stores’ traditional Market Street stalls will return, with five locations already welcoming them and a further eight stores to follow.

The supermarket has not confirmed whether all 70 previously closed stalls will return but said more locations could be announced in the future.

A spokesperson for Morrisons said: “Our Market Street stalls are part of our DNA. They are at the heart of our offer and make a real difference to Morrisons.

“We closed a small number of meat and fish stalls last year and have learned a lot from that. We have listened to customers and now plan to reopen some of these in the coming months. So customers can look forward to having skilled butchers and fishmongers back in store to prepare their meat and fish just the way they like it.

“The reopened tellers will feature flatbed tills, grab-and-go options and all the key learnings the business has made about efficiency and waste over the last twelve months to make them more efficient while providing the traditional teller service that customers love.
