Most popular baby names for boys and girls in 2025 revealed

The most popular names for babies born in England and Wales in 2025 have been revealed; Lily rose to second place in the charts among girls.
While Olivia was at the top of the girls’ names rankings for the fourth consecutive year, Muhammad was at the top of the boys’ names rankings for the third year in a row.
While Amelia, which was previously the second most popular girl’s name, fell to third place, Noah took second place for boys. Leo has become the third most popular name among men.
The list was announced by the ministry Office for National Statistics, external (ONS) and birth registration data used for the last full calendar year.
Other names making up the top 10 for girls include Isla, who is in fourth place, followed by Florence, Freya, Poppy, Elsie, Ivy and new entrant Isabella.
Luca is the fourth most popular name among boys, along with Arthur, Oliver, George, Oscar, Theodore and Freddie.
Eliana, Gracie, Alba and Lilah are among the new names to enter the top 100 in the girls category for the first time.
Carter, Ruben, Stanley and Vincent are the new names on the men’s list.
The ONS says names such as Ellie, Amelie and Jessica are among the top 100 girls’ names.
Grayson, Brody and Bodhi are no longer among the 100 most popular names for boys.
