North Bengal floods are man made, says Mamata as toll rises to 28

The death money in the northern Bengal floods rose to 28 and five more deaths were reported on Nagrakata in the Jalpaiguri region of West Bengal on Monday, October 6, 2025. 23 people from this number were killed by landslides in the Darjeeling region on 4 October and 5 October. Prime Minister Mamata Bannerler blamed the weak flood management by the destruction center.

Meanwhile, a delegation of BJP leaders was attacked by the indigenous people while visiting Nagrakata in Northern Bengal. BJP deputy Khagen Murmu was subjected to serious injuries on his face and had to be taken to hospital. Siliguri Mla in the Western Bengal Assembly and the party chief whip, Sankar Ghosh were also attacked. Both Kolkata and the BJP leadership in Delhi condemned the attack, while Msienengee called for restriction.
