MP Says ₹2,416 Crore PMMSY Proposals Approved for AP

Nellore: The central government has approved proposals worth ₹ 2,416.92 crore for Andhra Pradesh under Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY), Union Fisheries minister Rajan Singh told the Lok Sabha on Tuesday.

Seeking details of the PMMSY implementation, Nellore MP Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy asked a question about the funds received by Andhra Pradesh, especially Nellore district, under PMMSY and the projects undertaken under the scheme. The Lok Sabha member also asked whether any survey had been conducted in the state in the last five years to implement skill development initiatives for fishermen.

The Union minister in his written reply said that the Centre’s share regarding the ₹ 2,416.92 crore proposal approved for AP is ₹ 569.86 crore. Of these, ₹482.55 crore has been released so far for various fisheries-related activities across AP, including Nellore district.

In Nellore district, work has been completed at Juvvaladinne Fishing Port, which was taken over under the Blue Revolution at a cost of ₹288 crore.

Rajan Singh also stated that under the Climate Resilient Coastal Fishing Villages (CRCFV) initiative, the Center has selected 100 villages across the country, including Tatichettipalem, Lakshminarayanapuram and Eedurupalem villages in Nellore district.

On skill development, he said training programs under PMMSY are being implemented in all States and Union territories through the National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB).

According to NFDB reports, 218 training programs covering 9,570 fishermen and fish farmers were conducted in Andhra Pradesh and ₹ 2.54 crore was given to various institutions. 2,180 female beneficiaries in coastal areas were trained on seaweed cultivation.
