MPs’ budget week ‘race to the bottom’
apparently Each other week It brings a new low to MPs’ actions in the Queensland parliament. This is no exception.
Apparently even Speaker Pat Weir agrees. This morning he launched a blast at all MPs, berating them on many fronts.
First? Labor MPs interrupted Finance Minister David Janetzki’s budget speech on Tuesday to warn the three that “it was once unimaginable”.
Then came Opposition Leader Steven Miles’ budget response speech yesterday, which was cut and extended by more than 15 minutes from members of the government’s orders.
This was despite LNP MP Weir encouraging them (but not giving any formal warning) about the proper process of writing to him if they wanted to raise issues about misleading content in a speech.
