MS NOW producer accused of elitism over viral Markwayne Mullin post

A producer for MS NOW is under fire from critics who accuse her of elitism for an X post about newly elected Department of Homeland Security (DHS) nominee Sen. Markwayne Mullin, R-Okla.

Kyle Griffin, executive producer of “The Weeknight” and a prolific liberal social media poster, noted Mullin’s level of education after President Donald Trump appointed her to replace ousted DHS Secretary Kristi Noem.

“Markwayne Mullin appears to be the only currently serving senator who does not have at least a bachelor’s degree,” wrote Griffin, who has 1.2 million followers on X.

Mullin, who took over his family’s plumbing business at the age of 20 after his father became ill, earned an associate’s degree from Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology in 2010.

The post went viral, and critics quickly reacted by accusing her of making elitist judgment about candidate Trump.

“You say that like it’s a bad thing,” conservative activist Greg Price told Griffin.

“Pompass media elitoid: Show me all the useless college degrees that cost 6 figures apiece. Regular American: Show me the family business you built with your grit, intelligence, and wisdom that cost another friend a high 8-figure cost to buy,” wrote FOX Business host Dagen McDowell.

“[Alejandro] Mayorkas had a BA from Berkley and a J.D. from Loyola Marymount, and the difference between him and Markwayne Mullin is that one of them is not going to let 20 million illegal aliens cross the border,” said conservative commentator CJ Pearson, referring to the Biden-era DHS secretary.

“Who cares?” asked Rep. Eli Crane, R-Ariz.

“When his father got sick, he left school when he was 20 and took over his father’s plumbing business. Nobody cares where you went to college anymore,” said political strategist Thomas Hern.

Conservative X-man Reagan Battalion asks, “Why do people in America despise the media class?” he said.
