Wolves 1-3 Liverpool: Arne Slot’s side reach FA Cup quarter-finals

Against Wolves, the former guard did the job for Slot as Salah, Robertson and Jones sent Liverpool to victory.
The criticism and attention towards Salah intensified this season when he accused the club of “throwing me under the bus” in an explosive interview in December.
He left for the Africa Cup of Nations shortly afterwards, with Egypt losing to Senegal in the semi-finals in January, and the striker has scored four goals in 11 appearances since his return.
However, the 33-year-old player could not come close to the levels he set last season, scoring 34 goals in all competitions as Liverpool won their second Premier League title.
It was a poor first half for the forward at Molineux before Liverpool added the second – although such was the quality of Robertson’s cross he could not miss.
A truce appears to have been reached between Salah and the club, although their last goal was Salah’s last after a successful Anfield career.
This was also a rare strike by Robertson; He has made a rare start to this season and the 31-year-old came close to joining Tottenham in January.
But the Scotland international has shown his reliability, with Jones continuing to do the same.
Both of the midfielder’s goals this season have come in the last two rounds of the FA Cup, and he also scored in the fourth round win against Brighton.
At 25, Jones is far from old, but he made 215 appearances for Liverpool and the academy graduate has been reliable and valuable to both Klopp and Slot among their big-money acquisitions.
This means youngster Rio Ngumoha has the perfect place and excellent players to learn from after the 17-year-old makes his fourth start of his junior career.
“If you can impress him with very good one-on-one situations when he’s 17, that’s very special,” Slot said. “That makes him special, there aren’t many players in the modern game who can do that.
“He also performed better than three days ago because he held the ball more. He was effective three days ago and was even better today.
“It was a good moment to use all his energy for the offensive part.”
