Multiple people hospitalised after semi-trailer crashes into six cars near Wollongong

Several people have been taken to hospital after a semi-trailer crashed into six vehicles on the main road connecting Sydney and Wollongong.
The incident happened on Picton Rd in Cataract, about 20km north of Wollongong, at around noon on Wednesday.
A NSW Ambulance spokesman said paramedics treated 13 people injured in the crash at the scene.
Four of them were hospitalized.
A man in his 30s suffered injuries to his pelvis, chest and arm and was taken to Liverpool Hospital in a serious condition.
The other three people were taken by road to Wollongong Hospital in a stable condition.
Transport NSW said Picton Road was expected to be closed in both directions between Macarthur Drive and the M1 Princes Highway (Mount Ousley Road) while emergency crews responded to the incident.
“Use an alternative route, plan your journey and allow extra travel time,” a spokesman said.
“Ongoing police investigations are expected to take some time.”
More to come.
