Mum’s the word! Jude Bellingham says advice from his mother is the secret to success

Jude Bellingham revealed the secret of England’s World Cup dreams; His mother scolding him.

Denise Bellingham has been ‘studying’ him all week to watch his language and reactions on the field.

The Real Madrid midfielder, who scored both goals in the 2-1 win over Norway on Saturday, said that his mother’s warnings helped him avoid receiving another yellow card in the quarter-final match.

Bellingham was booked for a challenge against DR Congo in the round of 32, and if he had received another card he would have been suspended for Wednesday’s semi-final. After the quarter-finals, the list is cleared to avoid cumulative strikes banning players from the final.

Speaking after the victory over Norway, Bellingham said: ‘My mother has been telling me all week to watch my language, to watch my tackles, to watch my face, to watch my emotions.

‘So I guess he’s been urging me all week to watch out for that yellow card.’ Bellingham, 23, previously credited much of her success to her mother, pictured with her below. He described her as both his ‘queen’ and ‘wonderful laugh’.

During the World Cup in Qatar four years ago, he let it slip that she was still making her bed. He also came to the rescue when he forgot his passport during a trip to Spain with his former team Borussia Dortmund.

Meanwhile, figures show Oasis’ 1995 hit Wonderwall more than halved its streaming figures after the Norway victory.
