Murder arrest of woman after death of two children

A 43-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of murder following the deaths of two children.

Emergency services were called to a house in Corporation Street, Stafford, at around 7.30am, where two children were pronounced dead.

Det Insp Kirsty Oldfield, of Staffordshire Police, said: “We are working hard to better understand what happened that led to these two children tragically losing their lives.”

“We would ask people not to speculate at this stage as this is distressing for family and friends and could hinder our investigations.”

He added that officers were called to the home by the West Midlands Ambulance service.

It was stated that the children’s relatives were informed and supported by specially trained officers.

Currently, a cordon has been created at home.
