Police said a murder investigation was launched “following a report of a sudden death in a caravan.” Leicestershire Police said a man in his 40s was found dead in a caravan on Derby Road in Loughborough earlier this week. The death was first reported to police at around 11.40pm on Monday, July 6.
East Midlands Ambulance Service attended and pronounced the man dead. In a statement released on July 8, police added: “Subsequent investigations revealed that the deceased man, aged in his 40s, had reported being involved in a fight in the days before he was found.”
Investigations are still in their early stages to establish what happened and what led to this man’s death.
Police said a 56-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder.
Detective Inspector Mike Chandler from the East Midlands Special Operations Unit (EMSOU) is leading the investigation.
He said: “I have a dedicated police team working to understand what happened in this fight and the events that led to this man’s death.
“Officers will be carrying out inquiries and forensic inquiries in the Derby Road area over the coming days. A cordon will remain in place whilst these inquiries are carried out.
