Musk Signals Higher Creator Payouts on X Than YouTube
Elon Musk has stated that X is preparing to significantly increase payments to creators as part of its strategy to maintain high-quality and original content on the platform, potentially surpassing the payments offered by YouTube.
This indicator comes after X users claimed that platforms that fail to fairly compensate creators risk losing relevance. One post suggested that higher payouts were necessary, noting that only platforms that pay creators well will continue to host “authoritative content” as large language models increasingly absorb and reproduce online material.
Responding to the post, Musk wrote, “Okay, let’s do it, but let’s be strict about not gaming the system.” this statement was widely interpreted as a signal of impending changes to X’s monetization framework.
Musk also tagged X’s product manager Nikita Bier; He himself acknowledged the plan and said the company was “on it”, adding that a new system was being developed to eliminate almost all fraud associated with payments to creators.
