My brain tumour terror and the man who helped me through it: DAVINA MCCALL on how her outlook has changed, her extraordinary next steps – and why she fell for her hairdresser

Davina McCall, there are some invaluable advice for women in their 50s to find their soul mates – a man you want with you in a crisis, let you smile and encourage you during a brush with your own death: Don’t look at your local hair room.

Because the ideal partner can be found here. Male hairdressers are like your best friend and boyfriend.

And he should know. In 2017, after leaving Matthew Robertson’s husband in 2017, Davina began to appear with his own hairdresser Michael Douglas, whom he knew before marriage.

On the other side of the chair, Big Brother was there for a decade, and his father, 23, Tilly, 21 and Chester, 18 – were separated from Matthew to his three children.

In 2019, they became a couple and clearly confirmed their relationship in the same year. They live together and host a podcast named Cut Made The Cut, and they strengthen their ties.

“If you ask any woman, your hairdressers know as much as their best friends about their personal lives, or he says.

“ Michael would be completely home on a girl night. Like an honorary woman, because she spoke to a lot of women about her all their lives.

Before he came together, he knew everything about me. We told each other everything because we didn’t decorate each other, so if you imagined someone, you can be really honest, more honest. Your best friend is the warts and all kinds of honesty with all of them. It was very funny. Really healthy.

Last November, 57 -year -old Davina had an operation to remove a benign Kolloid cyst from its brain.

Menopause was found during a routine control while defending health. A screening revealed that it has a rare type of tumor that can cause sudden death.

Davina later had a successful operation to remove the tumor through a craniotomy. With his typical dark humor – he has given a name for all these years in the hairdresser’s chair with Michael – a name (because Jeffrey was not a friend of this name) and Michael stole the piano and a birthday party singing songs.

Until April 2025, after the last MRI scanning, the tumor ‘did not come back’ announced.

For him, this was a terrible ordeal, and it was incredibly grateful and relieved to pass through it.

52 -year -old Michael was in his bedside as he recovered and went to social media to keep Davina up to date with the progress of his fans.

But he also had a recovery rock – he said it also included returning to work after three months healed.

He needed little courage to go back to the cameras as soon as possible, as a workolic who confessed himself.

And after three months healed, he filmed the ITV series Long Lost Family. ‘It’s like coming home,’ he says.

Michael knew he would help me, so he supported me to go back. Living was a terrible thing, but Michael knew it would be the most happy thing. He was absolutely right. I got three months leave, but that was all. ‘

When we meet Davina, he barely leaves the smile, so enthusiastic that he is at home and about life. He tells me that his appearance has changed since surgery.

Someone who would once get a holiday or fun experiences, if he gets in the workplace, he now tells me that he seized the day with Michael.

‘My operation has changed since the operation, Mega, Mega on the road, from a perspective on the way of life. Now I will do everything. Sometimes I will go and do it in three or four years, but now I’m like “no, this year or even next week ..

After a memory test that he should take before his operation, there is an unusual target that he sets himself.

‘I know it was really crazy, but I did a test and I was told to be good in non -verbal reasoning.’

`Now, I know I need to know that because I love math. But a year later I left my level of mathematics. Now I downloaded an application on my phone and took myself to GCSE Maths.

“ For children, but I love him, so I decided to reconsider my mathematics a-love. Something I can’t do before the operation, but it’s an unfinished job for me. It will make me feel good. ‘

After taking a break from our screens, 57 -year -old Davina returned – as well as on BBC and ITV.

This week, we meet to talk about the Stred BBC show on the Balayı Island, which has been paired with couples, married and then isolated their relationship with limited resources.

Next month, Davina sees the return of the Long Lost family, where he has been home to Nicky Campbell for 14 years.

In the next Long Lost Family viewers series, Davina will combine a British Airways Steward with a Biological family after seeing Steward Davina on the flight and approaching him to ask for help.

When the researchers followed the family members, Davina went to see her.

In 1992, Davina has come a long way since the TV on Music Channel MTV. Since then, Big Brother, Jump, my mother, my father and a masked singer has held a show stream. It is still a source of joy and surprise after thirty years.

He tells me that his television idol is Cilla Black.

“ He is a trailblazer, ” says Davina. ‘He was the light for me.’

Like Davina, he brought people together. “ He did and loved and loved like me very much, ‘he replied.
