Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) candidate Madan Shah, who protested in front of Lalu Yadav’s house by tearing his Kurta and crying, has now claimed that his “curse” on the party has come true. What was his curse? During his protest, he predicted that RJD would win only 25 seats in the 2025 Bihar elections. This prediction or curse came true as RJD won only 25 seats.
In an interview to ANI, Madan Shah said he was still bitter over the party’s crushing defeat and alleged that a senior leader known as “Chanakya” was intent on destroying the party. “This pain drove me crazy. I went to meet Lalu ji in Patna. But no one met me. I succumbed to the pain and tore my clothes. I fell down and said that I had put a curse that his party would be restricted to 25 seats and it actually happened,” Shah said. he said.
He further added: “I am still sad for the party. I feel sad that the party lost but it is a good thing that God has done. Those in the party called ‘Chanakya’ are determined to destroy the party. Unless they are expelled from the party, nothing will improve there (RJD).
Speaking on the allegation that he was asked to pay Rs 2.7 billion for the ticket, Shah said that this demand was not made directly to him.
“This time Lalu ji was not consulted about ticket distribution. So the party met this fate. I was not asked for money directly (for tickets); it was done through the media. So how could I give the money? I could not throw it on the road… I did not talk to Sanjay Yadav. Big leaders had said through the media that I would be asked for money for tickets,” he said.
Madan Shah protested in front of Llau Yadav’s house
Madan Shah was one of the RJD candidates who was disappointed with the party after they were denied tickets to contest from their respective constituencies. In October, Madan Shah staged a unique protest against the RJD and raised allegations that ‘tickets’ were being sold in huge quantities. Madan from Madhuban constituency was denied ticket, instead ticket was given to Santosh Kushwaha. During the protest, he tore his kurta in front of Rabri Devi’s house. He was seen rolling and crying on the streets. He also made big claims about RJD. ‘Lalu Prasad Yadav promised to give me ticket for 2025 Bihar Assembly Elections,’ he said.
